Maybe not the best place for this, but unlikely 3.2 specific, and might not be connected, but.
The V6 has been parked up since Thursday, she wont turn over. Got a rapid ticking from the starter, I asume its the solenoid or something like. To be on the safe side I drop the battery off overnight to clear the ecu, charge the battery overnight too. No joy so I asume its starter.
Trouble is, I just noticed she isnt locked. Tried both key fobs and it just dont lock, the alarm power sounder has been isolated for some while, so there arent tell tale flashes from lights and on a main road you dont always hear the chunk of locks dropping. Been through all fuses in both cab (by steering wheel) and the main box in the bay, nothing doing.
Ive noticed the red light on the alarm switch in the car does operate with the fob?? so the reciever and keys are working. The panick button on the door doesnt drop or open the doors.
no relays in either footwell or engine bay appear to be trying when the fob is used.
Any ideas folkes?

Update, curioustiy got me and I put my protable booster on and now have central locking....
So my battery must either be toast or has drained in 3 days/night doing nothing.
Also, my booster aint that big, (recomended 1.4cc and bellow) so unlikely going to trun a 3.2 on its own. More bloody complications.. Going to try and get out the house (getting nagged I'm afraid) and drop the jumps from the 2.8 along with the the booster to see if we can pursuade her to fire.

Deffo sounds like battery, more then likely at least one cell has gone south and will only get worse in a very short space of time.

you might find with a new battery the starter will be ok when the battery`s go on the B, all you get is a clicking, very lucky if you even get dash lights. if you got a little bit of power left, then when you lock the doors with the remote, the door locks go down, then pop straight back up. so wont lock.

With my flat battery, all I got was a clicking noise... Once replaced with a Halfrauds Special (93 quid for the DTi one) it's been right on the button.

With the jump starter on ,I get locking. Tried the wifes car on a jump lead with the jumper as well, but couldnt get the starter to fire, so still asuming the starter is toast.
I am getting abattery so will find out Tuesday.

Jobs a good un. New battery, ready charged and she fires first crack. Very odd, and me very happy as the V6 starter is hard to get a look at let alone remove Thanks folkes.

Remember Alex that a starter uses between 1 and 2 kilowatts of power to turn over an engine and any drop in voltage will severely reduce its ability to turn even without a load. The higher the output of the motor the greater the voltage required to get it going and with 12 volts there isnt much leeway to play with.

If the battery is completely discharged, then you MUST leave jump leads connected for 10 minutes or so to get a bit of charge in before trying to crank it over,or you will get clicking, trust me been there in the dark, when i didnt change the battery and it let me down when i needed it most.
