right i have just bought a 2.3 td lwb fronty on a p plate 1996 but the rear looks very llow in comparison to my 2.2 petrol even with the 31" tyre she is still lower that the 2.2 the 2.3 has leaf springs on the back and the shocks under neath just wondering if i replace the shocks on the rear will that bring it back up to the proper ride height if not what can i do to bing it back up with ont changing the leaf spings the bloke i bought the fronty from just used it 4 flying arond in but he said he had a pallet of bricks in the back 4 a couple of days last week and since then it sat low the leafs look ok nut im not sure please help

check front ride height as above post.
Clean springs and look for cracked leafs usually next to the clamping plates.

No new shocks will not help ride height.

cheers have measured the ride height ant front sits at 34" and the back sits at 33" so i have cleaned the leaf spring i cant see any cracks odr any damage but i have found a set at the scrap yard 4 £90 so am pickin them up next week end when they have removed then from the fronty but can any one tell me what the exact ride height is 4 the 2.3tdi with leafs on the back cheers also after a snorkel and a 2" lift kit

Hold that thought on the leave springs Melvin, Milners sell then brand new for £48 each plus vat and delivery, they will lift the car no end till they settle a bit then you can add longer shackles.

No they dont sell extended shackles but when you fit the new springs you will have a shock how high it goes, try Specialist Leisure, I dont think they are on their web site but give them a phone call.

Not too hot on my fronty history, but would it be a 2.3 on leafs for a 96/p reg??

The lastest leafers will be early 95, N reg, 20L, 2.3, 2.4.

Unless that it a ringer Andy it hasnt got leafs as you can make out the curvy dash.
No Leafer had the curved dash.

Melvin, what is your dash like?
And the registration date on the document?

If its the old dash and is leafs it could have been sitting unsold from new in a dealers yard.

You must have had one that was waiting around to be sold, bet there are not many like that, unless Vauxhall held onto it for some reason before releasing it and registering it.

One thought is it could have been bought by some one in the armed forces abroad and they shipped it back.

It would be interesting to find out the cars history.

Check accessories and modification section for snorkels, there is nothing made for the Frontera commercially at a decent price, most make their own.
