Engine Swap

I am thinking of maybe replacing the engine in my 2.4 although here is nothing wrong with the engine.

I am told that the 2.8 will drop right in so what to know if this possible as I thought the bell housing and bulk heads where different.

Also what other engines are available?

For 2.8 to go in you need the gear box as well and the rear prop as its a single prop, I think the 2.4 has a two piece prop.

The bulkhead shouldnt be a problem though.

Will the 2.3 fit?

Im pretty sure that will as they have the same bottom end as the 2.4, but I dont think it would be worth the risk if you 2.4 is running good, personally I wouldnt swap as there wouldnt be much gain if any, and the new engine could be worse than the good one your replacing.

its doable but i wouldn't! you'd have to swap the fuel tank sender , and what about the brake servo ? do they differ from petrol to diesel ? engine fits with a couple of mods to the gear box crossmember but you need the isuzu gearbox and a rear prop from a 2.3td is needed (i think!) as ste says , stick with the 2.4 !! sure wold save backche !
