turboAm I right in thinking that a 3.1 troop turbo will fit my 2.8 and that they are a better unit to fit?

Re: turboI thought one or two had fitted them on here. Mine sounds like the bearing is dry

Re: turboYes they fit, though the later turbo's are better.
Its a very easy mod to make fit. I bet when you turn yours off it sounds like a jet engine winding down If so dont worry to much, if there is no play in the vains and there are no leaks, though it would be wise to check oil feeds to the turbo for blockages caused by old oil build up, you shouldnt have any problems, some turbo's do make a noise with age but that doesnt mean they are dying. Mine has made the wind down wine since I bought the 2.8 two years ago, I got in touch with http://www.dieselbob.co.uk/tips.shtml and was assured it was ok via email. If you are worried its worth 5 minutes to ask. Remember though Jim 3k oil changes and 6k oil filter and your turbo will love you, even though it wines Leave it to wind down before turning off after a run, 30 seconds then switch engine off on a normal 30mph run, and if you have just got off a motorway run or high revs give it at least a minute before turning the key off Ste

Re: turboIt was a whine Ste, but now it sounds like a dry bearing noise. I will check the oil feeds though, but with 127k on the clock, that bearing has gone around a time or two.

Re: turboCheck the vains for wobble if they dont then the bearing generally are ok

Re: turboOil is less than 1000 miles old as is the filter. I might change it again as it was only tesco's special brew. Not checked feed pipes yet.

Re: turboI checked inside the inlet/outlet pipes with Jim after Baldhu (when the air filter got wet) and there was very little oil in the pipes, no sign of any water having got through either, but it was definitley whining when he revved up and before switching off.
Sounded just like an old John Deer tractor really................ What have I told you about Thinking Erroll??
Re: turboIm inclined to think and air leak or gasket leak possible manifold
