those shackles are strong if it was going to move it would have done so when i got pulled out devide the load between the two and i reacon the chassie will move before the recovery points. just look at the you tube vid of me being pulled out the rear cross member of the landy broke

Next Thursday is good for me. Want mine welded on the front chassis rails though. I have other plans for the rear due to the towbar. Unfortunately I need the tow bar.

Almost got the towbar cross member off, just the awkward bolt above the exhaust to go. God they were tough

Well the bar is off plus two knuckles and several square inches of skin

Im keeping my tow bar cross member, it adds a bit of protection s well as the good anchor point

so am i, i am just removing the whole towbar assembly then welding the shackles on to it in the workshop cos there's too many white shirts around today to bring the truck in the yard

The welding is not as good as Bernie's but not bad for a beginner, 5 runs, de-slagged and brushed between runs and only the slightest bit of pigeon poo
