Laining in an unmodified fronteraLife is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming...'Wow! What a ride!
Re: Laining in an unmodified fronteraIt is perfectly possible to go laning without getting the interior wet or to cause damage.
I use my fronty as my day-to-day car, and as I found out, a standard, unlifted fronty with less than perfect tyres will handle a lot. I was privileged to be taken out by Trugga on a day's laning, and it was one of the most fantastic days ever. There were a few hairy moments (that were, in fact, perfectly safe - they just "felt" hairy), and that was all part of the fun. As long as you are sensible and don't take on more than you are comfortable with, and don't try fording while the rivers are swollen, then you will be just fine Jay

Re: Laining in an unmodified fronteraThanks guys it looks absolutely brilliant fun I still find it hard to believe the car doesn't get wet inside I suppose it's because you're moving I had a look at the door seals on mine and they don't seem to be any different to those on a car I thought they would have been special door seals for these sort of vehicles or perhaps you can get them I don't know just watching YouTube seeing people getting into trouble in the middle of the river watching the water pouring in through the doors sends a shiver down my spine as I imagine that could be me one day but honestly I think I would really have to give it a go i bought the vehicle initially because of its spacious interior which is ideal for my hobby as a Mountain biker the bikes go on the back and all the equipment is just swallowed inside the enormous boot space i spend a lot of my time in Wales and also in Scotland so I already do the travelling and if I was to pursue this as a new hobby travelling wouldn't be a problem. Thanks for all of pics they really are great to look at.
What is the snorkel for the exhaust or the air intake? Cheers Nigel.Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming...'Wow! What a ride!
Re: Laining in an unmodified fronteraSnorkel is for the air intake, although some do raise the exhaust aswell.

Re: Laining in an unmodified fronteraif you notice in the piccies of the truck going through the water, because they have build a nice bow wave up infront of the vehicle, the waterline drop below the sill level behind the front wheels, hence no water in the car. You will only get water in the car if you are stationary in deep water and your seals are bushed. Mine is my pride and joy but she has been through water that splashed over the bonnet but still dry as a bone inside. (And that was unlifted)

Re: Laining in an unmodified fronteraGood point htere Ian,in my top pic you can see the water is up too the bonnet top, while the bottom edge of the door is visible.
Just use a low gear in 4wd set a speed & maintain it. Get your name down as a reserve in viewtopic.php?f=44&t=19600
