Well, started work on my 2.3 TD frontera yesterday morning. Been putting it off for months.
I read and re-read the instruction listed on the forum for a rear diff plate change, and made sure I bought all the parts needed from my local car spares shop. Axle oil and gasket sealant that is.
After 30 mins I had the old diff plate off, and 1 hour later I had put the new one on all connected up. I did have problems getting the diff oil back in, but managed to find an old rear washer motor pump from a Capri I had, so pumped the oil in that way instead....lol.
Today I have changed the alternator belt, adjusted the power steering belt, changed the glow plugs, and re-set the steering (had a lot of play on the wheel). All helped by reading the technical sections of this forum, as I found the haynes manuals instructions somewhat confusing, and not all that helpful.
I would just like to show my appreciation for those members and the forum for passing on the easier way's of keeping a frontera on the road. It has really helped me, and brought the passion I have for working on my own cars back to life.
Next job, oil pipe replacement??????
Many thanks.
