Re: Thinking of selling!!I honestly don't know mate.
I have a clean license now but picked up 3 points in 2004 which I have to declare for incurance purposes. I have had 2 accidents in the last 5 years, nothing major, reversed into a post etc! No no-claims bonus though, ex-company car driver!! also tried cis & direct line. I am rapidly running out of options, it's just not cost effective to keep her.
Re: Thinking of selling!!Somethings amiss, with the lack of NCB it shouldnt be that high. try insuring your missus on it ith you a named driver.
Fronty no.4, pimp mobile Treg 3.2 LWB lifted 2.5"

Re: Thinking of selling!!if you had a company car with no accidents try contacting there insurance company
to see if the will insure you or give you a letter for no claims bonus i had a mobility car for 6 yrs and when i got my fronty the mobility company insurance gave me a letter saying i had 6 yrs of no claims

Re: Thinking of selling!!As this is a toy, have you tried the limited milage, agreed valuation route ??
Re: Thinking of selling!!Ok, so we're both of SAGA Insurance age, and it's £109 per annum TPFT. So we're laughing all the way to the Bank. It's just a 2nd car on-road about 6-8 months of the year. We use it for Peak District trips (hikers), and for frightening the BMW/Merc/Voyager drivers at Tescos (joking). It's also handy for dragging up leylandi trees, and towing a trailer load of rubbish to the tip. Only one day last winter when we really needed 4x4 traction though.
But 4x4s do have to seriously be considered as a viable mode of transport these days with fuel costs, rising Road Fund Licences etc. Strangely enough the SWB Frontera 8 valve, at 28 mpg is still a remarkably good proposition. Exhaust only £130, tyres now as low a £45 each, battery about £50; and of course no really big increase in tax on pre-2002 cars (as we've read it anyhow). Not chucking out half the pollution of some bigger 4x4s and saloons either! If the Frontera does have to go then what would replace it? How much would you have to spend to get the replacement vehicle just 'right'? I'd bear this in mind in overall costing too. It seems such a shame to practically have to give away such a great car to someone else. I'd SORN it for a while and chew it over a bit before making a mistake. Good Luck. Tony. PS: A Classic Landrover. Have you compared the heater in these to a Frontera!! Last edited by TonyG on Tue Jul 29, 2008 10:37 pm, edited 1 time in total.

Re: Thinking of selling!!Thanks for your comments everyone.
I can't get a letter from the company insurers saying I was claim free because i wasn't!! I had 2 accidents, last one in July 2007 in my company car. I now have my own car as well as the Fronty so that takes up any no-claims discount I may have. Apparently you can only use your NCB on one car, I never knew that. Er' indoors does have 4 years NCB but, again, she runs her own car and uses it for that. Tonyg, I appreciate your point about what I would replace it with but if i bought a 1983 or older land rover it qualifies for classic car insurance which would be £90 and also no road tax! quite a saving. I have just declared her as SORN which sticks in my throat slightly as I have just paid for an MOT which is wasting away! I

Re: Thinking of selling!!I think you will have to go back alot further than 1983 to get tax free, at least early 60's I think.
