News for GWR interest

I've put this here rather than in the GWR section because it might encourage even more people to get involved, but , admin, please move it to the GWR section if you
think you need to.

People may be aware, I know some on here are, That back in December 1997/98 a pretty much standard LWB series A Frontera was used to set a World Record Time for circumnavigating the Globe. This record was set by a team led by a Mr (because he deserves respect as a Fronty driver ) Gary Sowerby. (and subsequently led to VX releasing the "Transglobe" special editon Fronty)

Following a long almost fruitless search of the internet, and some help from members on here, I have managed to make contact with Gary Sowerby and have email from him in referrence to his record and our own attempt. He has promised to send me some information in respect of his own record event and also some info of where the car is now and whether it is available for attending this our own event...... Watch this space and I will post any more info as soon as I get it

Well wouldn't that just be the ultimate fitting tribute to the whole set up if Neil could pull this one out of the bag
It's the little things like this that make me so glad that i bought my wife a fronty last year which got me into offroading and getting the "toy" for myself...... It makes you realise what a great bunch of people are signed up to this forum.

As a little foot note this site also helps to keep me sane when i'm stuck in the ROI with work, away from the wife and kids so theres another good reason to say thanks....

Gary has replied and suggests that the date looks OK. I think but am not 100% sure until he tells me that he can arrange either for the car or for him and the car to be here.

He has sent me this and says he has plenty more!
