Can't answer about lanes around your area i'm afraid, but as for "rules", a good place to start would be the GLASS Code of Conduct thread, and while you're there, take a look at the Greenlaning introduction, the Greenlaning Driving Tips, and the suggestions as to some of the kit you might need.

The most important piece of advice that I can see is to never try greenlaning alone! I am sure some of the more experienced laners will be more than willing to give you some advice

I would also suggest that instead of trying green laning first, you would be best going on one of the arrange pay & play days where you can find out safely what your truck will and wont do and what you are comfortable doing before you go laning. It can take the edge of a days laning if you come across some tricky lanes and are so nervous it spoils your enjoyment.

That's just me talking from experience....p&p first, get to know your truck, then an organised laning trip. there are some great leaders on this site and it's worth travelling the extra miles to hook up with these trips. The last one I went on was a 500 mile round trip but worth every inch and drop of diesel.

As said above, never go laning alone, even on the mildest of lanes, the AA are not too enthusiastic about recovering you 4 or 5 miles into the middle of nowhere.
