Spinning wheels stuckWhen your stuck in mud and one rear wheel is spinning free and you have lost traction ( non LSD ) would it work applying the brake lightly with your left foot while reving to send some resistance, as it where the spinning wheel, could this transfer the power to the stuck wheel that has traction?

Re: Spinning wheels stuckdunno mate ....but it would be interesting to watch you try
Re: Spinning wheels stuckNo sorry will not work, the foot brake has a preset of front 60% rear 40%,so the spinning rears will be trying to push the nearly locked front wheels.
Re: Spinning wheels stuckhow about the hand brake then?
I know it will kill handbrake shoes but its a thought Ste

Re: Spinning wheels stuckFiddle brakes would work .....but not the standard handbrake
Re: Spinning wheels stuckIf applied lightly enough it should work as you would only need a bit of resistance on the spinning wheel

Re: Spinning wheels stuckI did once a very long time ago modify a handbrake system for club rallying,it had a flyoff lever for each side for stages use & a locking slide on single lever for road use.
Re: Spinning wheels stuckIt does work and I thought it was a well used method to get the other wheel some power. If your in the goo, brakes on at the front don't realy hinder the power transfer process as you are only dabbing anyway. When I went on a 4x4 training day it was somthing they mentioned.

Re: Spinning wheels stuckIf you look at the latest offerings from Ford and Porsche, thats exactly how they maintain traction, through the ABS system applyng brake to the spinning wheel/wheels.........
But as we dont have abs, thats no help at all What have I told you about Thinking Erroll??

Re: Spinning wheels stuckI love my computer
Re: Spinning wheels stuckI have tried the dabbing the brakes whilst being stuck and having one wheel spin. Point of fact it didnt work for me no matter how much I played around with the the brakes. I did read about it somewhere thats what made me try it when I was stuck but the spinning wheel kept spinning and the stuck ones stayed stuck. In the end a shovel and some elbow grease got me out. Iv never really had the opportunity to try it since. Now I have some more experience I might give it a go next time. In my case at the time it didnt work but the theory is sound.
