We are being watchedPlease be careful while out laning, this is the public perception of us in a very one sided interview on HTV Wales yesterday regarding the Allt y Badi in North Wales.

Re: We are being watchedInteresting item. same old story though the mindless few upseting the locals geting everyone who has a 4x4 a bad name.
It might be slow but i can go anywhere!
Re: We are being watchedJon thats the problem with that lane the locals are tarring every one who uses it with the same brush as usual.
Though I did notice one thing in the iterview, one woman has a Disco and what could be a Frontera tucked away on her drive, so its more of keep off MY lane Ste

Re: We are being watchedThe sensible answer which should keep all party`s happy would be,leave the BOATs alone & cause the bridleways to be inaccessable to motor vehicles. Then keep the horses on the bridleways.
Re: We are being watchedIm all for sensible greenlaning and would like to think I understand situations where locals who live in the vicinity of greenlanes are coming from. But as one of the women said in the interview 'Why do they have to come down our lane when there are all the other lanes to use' or something to that effect. I am led to believe with that statement she would rather shift the problem onto someone else's doorstep as most lanes will eventually go past someone's front door at some stage.
Particularly in Wales if you look at an OS map of any region, BOAT's and UCCR's are few and far between with the vast majority of the unpaved Public Rights of Way classified as Footpaths or Bridleways. This is rather evident in the area where I live. In fact, in my immediate area on the OS map there are many, many miles of Bridleways and Footpaths surrounding my home and I have yet to see a horse on any of them whilst walking my dogs. I know I am not on the paths/bridleways all the time but often enough to know that there is little or no evidence of them being used. Admittedly many of the Paths and Bridleways are unsuitable for motorised vehicles regardless and it would be irresponsible of anyone to try and take a 4x4 on them for any reason, chief amongst them safety. I am sure that this stands for the vast majority of unpaved surfaces in the UK. It is unfair and to a certain extent unjust. Unfortunately, it seems to me there doesnt seem to be enough cohesion or unification between various 4x4 bodies/clubs/organisations to be heard loudly enough. Even within FOG itself it can seem difficult at times to amass numbers for events and I personally dont think enough of us are getting involved in the Rights of Way issue but are content with what we have until it is all frittered away and we are left with nothing. It is easy to blame the 'few' who are irresponsible and I truly believe it is these few who tarnish the rest of us but it is also our responsibility to ensure that there is a presence when these issues are raised at council and community meetings and by showing support to local residents, possibly by volunteering to do track repairs etc (I know there are already organisations who do this, mainly GLASS and a few others, but not all our members are registered with these organisations and I would urge them to join for education as well as to increase our unified voice). Again we can do our part (as mentioned repeatedly on this site and with good cause) by behaving responsibly, travelling in small groups, and doing our best to tread lightly etc. I am even in support of TRO's on a seasonal basis, mainly during the winter months when tracks are most susceptible to erosion. This debate has been going on for years and I am only going over old material, but my feelings on the subject are heartfelt.
Re: We are being watchedWhat the issue is, is that these people have moved into that area, bought a house knowing there was a lane next to it, yes there are more cars on the road and 4x4's have been squeezed into using less and less lanes by people like them and thus more people are using that lane.
There is more traffic passing my house than there was 20 years ago, am I campaigning to get the road closed ? No as I knew it was a road when I moved here. There wasnt a sniff at a Welsh accent was there ? Sorry I went off on one Ste

Re: We are being watchedThe bloke presenting says " thrill seeking visitors ". So thats what we are now then is it. Ya right Ste that 1st woman sounds nothin like a local sayin " we worked for this, this is what we wanted ", So obviously not lived there all her life and got it off some sort of retirement or pension fund. Must say though that the oval badges on the youtube video she was watchin were bein a bit rough and just tryin to get up the steps as fast as they could. They should of asked the other woman whether she had the rangey and the maverick/terrano before she moved there though.

Re: We are being watchedBecause of the complaints on that lane CRAG approached the council asking to make it one way downwards only, they refused and said it should remain two way, they failed to mention that in the report to

Re: We are being watchedShelia said " Quote : I'm worried about the pollution in the Stream as I use it for drinking water" .......
She would be if I had my way ..... These townies buy a house in the country hoping for a peaceful and quite life but they just don't understand how it works. They think it's all honey bees, tweeting birds, cows & sheep. How wrong are they. I spend most of my time in and around the country side, Day in, day out, I spend a lot of time with farmers and other people who work or use the countryside and most, if not virtually all of them have had some sort of run in with town folk over on thing or another. They think just cos they have spent the lifes savings on a one bed country cottage in the middle of the countryside, it gives them the right to dictate what goes on around them. Just got one thing to say to "HER IN THE WHITE HOUSE AT THE BOTTOM OF THE LANE" .... "£$% ^%!, )(* %£$" !"&%(.
Re: We are being watchedi wonder how they got there furniture to there house's and any deliveries
if the lane is closed i wonder how the will get service's up to there property and there own vehicles i suppose the lady with the horse and cart will have to do it if the lane is 8ft wide how did the tippers and tarmac laying vehicles get up there and back
Re: We are being watchedIt was once tarmaced or cobbled or something and during the war and the tanks used it to get to a training area, that what wrecked the surface of the lane, she is in for a shock as thats why the TRO is on it so the council can tarmac it
That will then be a very busy rat run for normal cars if they carry out a good job as it links the Cerriog valley and Llangollen and saves a huge trip around the valley Ste

Re: We are being watchedhi guy the lands how are winching up the lane on the video are m8s of mine and the reason they are is cause the sill cow blocked the lane so they had to turn around and go back up it.
also the clips they are using are of youtube and the lad how posted them as not been asked if they could be shown and with his user name on show as well but thats something else
Re: We are being watchedYour right, she has a tactic of blocking the lane with a car and letting all the separate groups bunch up and then call the police, the police for the sake of argument tell the groups to turn around and go back up.
Then she goes the media and moans that the groups are huge and aggressive, she knows how to play the system, Ste

Re: We are being watchedEveryone ....... Pooh in her stream !!!!
Fight fire with fire. Am I correct in assuming it is illegal to block, at any time, a designated highway or through fair ? If so, then surely, with enough intervention when the police arrive, a charge of obstructing a highway or a breach of the peace should be used.
