Hi mate ...Welcome to FOG the 2.5tds is a good powerful motor ...although it is all electronic (fly by wire) ...so there can be lots to go wrong should there be hiccups a well maintained motor should be reasonably trouble free ... have a look Here to see what other owners have had with theirs hope this is helpful

the 2.8tdi's are easy to work on (sometimes) ....i've got one also the 2.8tdi's are all mechanical (no silly ecu's or electronics to go wrong) so in some aspects the 2.8 is a better motor ..but thats just my own opinion good luck with the viewing today

thanks for the advice. well, i bought it. think i got it at a good price . decided to service it today and noticed that the pipes from the turbo to the intercooler and to the air box were split. repaired those for now but got to get new ones. the oil had'nt been changed for a while (by the looks of it) but now is all nice and clean the only prob i think i have with it is that the turbo has now developed a whistle (brg?.) so could be on the look out for a new/second hand one. what sort of price am i looking at and what breakers do you use.

thanks again for the advice. will keep an eye on the turbo also it has a removable tow ball and i can't seem to get it to fit? is there a specific way of putting it in the socket? it looks like the genuine vauxhall one!

If you add your details to your profile (year, model, engine & rough location) there may be a local member that knows of a breakers yard nearby
