An idea on parking in my street.Just wondering if someone know the rules for driveways.
Parking in my street is a nightmare, as gibbo and bobbinsjob may have seen. anyway, for the last 3 days, i have not been able to get a space to park, so i have had to park around 500 yards away. Its permit parking, 41.00 quid a year for one car, and for my car and the wifes car they charge 92.00 a year (thought it would be cheaper for 2 cars, but cost a tenner extra). While walking back from parking my car in another street, i noticed some of the parking space lines removed, where people who had space to add a drive way to their property and get the council to add the sloping drive way bit on the pavement. and a white line placed infront of their drive. So my question, i dont have room to add a drive, but could i still get council to put the lower pavement in, and telling them i am adding a driveway, thus being that i could then park infront of my house. sean
Re: An idea on parking in my street. They will check to see that you do have room for a drive way first, if you don't they will refuse.
Regards, Keith.

Re: An idea on parking in my street.Tell your local MP and demand something is sorted out for the money you are being charged. As it seems to me you are paying this and getting nothing for it mate.

Surely if your times have been reduced, then so should your costs for your permits. Regards, Keith.

Re: An idea on parking in my street.Who's is the house in your avatar then
Seriously though, I'd put a plank of wood down just infront of the kerb if you have no wall? (giving the impression it's a drive). Or you could get a few cones (not the nicest looking things but you'll be out when they are in situ).
Re: An idea on parking in my street. They will check that you have space to add a drive (as mentioned above) I think the min space is 16 x 8 and you need to be able to drive straight on,as you have said already that you don't have enough room they will refuse the application.
Try raising this with your local councillor, and maybe the local press as well, they love stories like this. Residents parking is a nightmare and it is compounded when a household has more than one vehicle as most do these days. They always issue more permits than there are spaces,so someone is always going to be unlucky. Can you get on the rear of your property? John
Re: An idea on parking in my street. Our road is going to resident only parking very soon, permits to be purchased from the local council.
I have a double fronted drive so no need to buy a permit as I never park on the street but they are insisting I buy a permit and even said I could have my car clamped if I don't The angle grinder is ready

Re: An idea on parking in my street.Wouldnt that be trespass if they entered your property to fit the clamp

Re: An idea on parking in my street.Cant see why you need a permit to park in your own driveway.
