Just out of interest, does anyone have any thoughts on the Isuzu Mu?

In the dock near where i work theres one thats been stood for a year in someones yard, ive been trying to spot a time when the guys gates have been open to have an ask. Managed to speak to the yard owner today who tells me the car is for sale because the owner of it died on saturday

Just wondered about opinions and valuations. I quite like the look of it for something different.

Its a K-reg, SWB, good tyres, would need painting because its red and faded. Looks straight apart from that. I BELEIVE its a 3.2 V6 motor in them..... am i right? Mileage shows as 86K, speedometer is in miles too.

Havent heard it running yet but aslong as it DOES run. What could i offer without offending? or what would you guys offer!

I know they come in with 3.1 and 2.8 td engines, not sure what petrols they have, tons of info on the MU here

An old K wouldnt be worth a lot, if it is a big lump it does sound interesting.

ive really got no idea what to offer the guy, cant afford more than 500 for it but is it worth that?

bit of an odd car really, can only find one on ebay that looks pretty tidy, newer and is 995

If the one on ebay is black from a trader then it has been reduced from £1295. If the guy selling is happy to let you have a good poke about take a good jack and axle stands and go over it to see if things have seized on or perished etc. If you end up spending a few hundred pounds breathing life into it you may aswell have bought the ebay one.

Give it a good ole check see what condition its in, it may not even be worth £500, make sure you check the chassis on it for rot

I suppose the question has to be asked why was it stood for a year.

How much is an old Sport worth these days, with a poor paint job.

Tyres might have perished, especially if they are flat. Battery will most likely be flat. If diesel, you might have trouble priming the pump if the pumps rubbers have dried out. Brakes might be seized.

There could be a lot of work to do to get it road worthy.

The MU is just a sport, with a different face and a different engine.

personally its a better choice than a 2.8tdi sport

none of this dual mass to worry about or dodgy rear axle

im going to go and see him in a couple of weeks to see if the keys have materialised so i can take a look over it and see if i can actually get it started! Doubt i'll end up with it but its nice to have a play
