Green Laning day - 06 July 2008 (Sun), 9am - South East

Dear FOG Members,

Yesterday I came across idea, why not to try to organise monthly South East meets/days out, as last one (yesterday) was really great!

Its excellent to see new faces, and great to meet new faces!

So why not to meet for day out at least once a month? Last time, there was given very little notice, so hopefuly this time we will be see more names

As per date, I would say its fully flexible, so please state is 5th (Sat) OK with you, or do you prefer other day (ie Sunday). As per place, we can always visit our friends in Hampshire, Kent or Oxfordshire, as these are not so far away, our trucks are mega capable and Gibbo proved, that distance is not a problem (one more time thanks for joining us mate!).

Paul

I would say Oxfordshire (Tiddles) sounds cool! If not why not good old Kent or Eastern Surrey, around M3. We can go for something like 'around Surrey-ish Fords'

Have not had the chance yet to explore the Oxford lanes :(

They do not advertise or sign post them very well around here :?

Not like the IOW where they are well sign posted and shown on most maps  Although there are many TRO,s now so soon they will all be for posh toff horsy types

Im intrested in doing a weekend trip to the IOW some time. I have the OS maps for the IOW and it looks like there are lots of Byways. Whats the best way to find out which ones are still open?

There are loads but many have TRO,s now for no obvious reason and some are deliberately getting neglected :twi

Even the most famous lane the Tennyson Trail is now fully or partially closed to 4x4,s.

Best bet is to contact the the IOW 4x4 club.

Well, I would say that we have got two ideas - Oxfords (which may be too far away) or Surrey, around A3 and close to Guilford. Altought any ideas are welcome! :)

Well I am up for the lanes just off the A3 south of Guildford, I havent got my maps to hand but from what I can remember there are lots and lots of lanes all close together so ideal for a long day out in the woods.

Will check out the OS maps when I get a chance and post again.

Also up for any other ideas as I love going laning were I have never been befor.
