Whats it worth??

My beloved first engine transplant that i thought went well, clearly didnt, ive put a 2.0 16v into my 2.2 out of a vectra after i bought the fronty off a family friend.

Took a while but i finally got it in and started, well chuffed with myself as its my first transplant on ANY car. Anyway, took a couple of months to save for the tax and insurance on it, did them both on wednesday, drove it down the motorway on wednesday night and it packed up.

It seems to be mixing water and petrol as im getting exhaust fumes out of the expansion tank.

So im just seeing if anyone knows what its worth because its an odd one...

Its a Frontera 'A' shape but is registered on a 1999 V plate due to being an Opel. Its also got an LPG conversion in it. Bodywork isnt great but its not battered, brand new MOT too, good tyres.

Any ideas on its value? I havent got the heart or the time to do another tranplant.

I agree, sounds like the head, its a dam site cheaper to fix than to sell

And as you have proved your competence in changing an engine I should think a HG would be easy

thank you very much for the confidence boost gents, im 25 and learning things via my dad and practice really! I dont like it, but i must conquer it.

ive found a contact that will do a head gasket change for £120 plus parts, but im going to have a go at it myself for a few days and see how i feel, and whether or not i want someone else to do it for me!

Looking at the manual it doesnt look TOO bad!

Im sure i'll be filling the board with questions though for the next week or so!

If i get sick of it i'll post photos and its RHD

Zebadee and I have just done the head gasket on his 2.0ltr sport and believe me, if you follow the Haynes book it is a "bobbins job" (see what I did there?)

Well ive made a start, making a point of timing myself too, did an hour today, im following one of those vauxhall TIS CD's which are apparently the real deal. Making a bit up as i go along and we'll see where i end up!!!!

on the subject, does anyone know why the engine has to be rotated to 60degrees before the timing marks before doing the head gasket on an ecotec?? Seemed a bit complex to me but ive done it anyway, will confuse me when i come to put it back together though!
