Hi Guys...

Well here I am again...
After setting off this morning to fit my new rear springs, i'm sat im my armchair feeling depressed and wimpish.

After 2.5 hour toiling with the new spring comprssors I got from Machine Mart, my new springs are in the boot, and the Truck is still at standard ride hight!

See, the thing is, I'm not getting the new dampers until at least friday, but I want the springs on the truck, so I can take it down the road and get the garage to fit the new dampers. (because I can't remove the top nut of the dampers, it's like it's welded on!)

I fitting the compressors and started winding them up..... They are rated to 1.5 Metric tonnes of pressue each... and there where 3 of them.... in the end the spring was compressed as it was ever going to get, but it would still not move!

Bearing in mind i'm trying to do this with the old dampers still on... is it even possible?

So I'm bathed and all clean now, and won't be doing this again now until Monday (assuming someone doesn't tell me it's impossible, with the old dampers in place)

Help needed guys, feeling pretty peeved at the mo.
Sadely some little scrote has half inched my trooley jack and 1 (!) axles stand... so I only have the standard jack and 1(!) axle stand left!
So baslically I jack the the rear end up using the axle jack point! remove the road wheel, and support the truck on the single stand. Then I slowly jack the axle down until the old damper is a maximum length.... THEN, I wind it up a turn just to support it...

Oh well, maybe I'm trying something that just cannot be done... :oops:

you need to remove shocker to allow axle to tip far enough for spring to come out (after compressing it),if you are lucky & have the car high enough you may well only need to undo one shocker.

The restricted travel on the shoker is what stops the spring poping out when going through a pothole etc

If you are getting a garage to fit the shockers they will need to compress the springs first,why not get them to put the new springs on as well ??

Go with A friend on that one mate, if the garage is doing the shocks then get them to fit the springs at the same time.
I personally would not be fartin' around with the jack for the car. Not safe enough.
