my frontys diedhi all . well decided to go to france for the week , everything going ok till we get about 25 miles in to france , then a slight rattle( like a pebble in a can sound ) started then the rattle got really loud , then the oil light came on and it cut out so we coasted to a stop , had a look at the engine looked ok , underneath as well , the mrs said y don,t we try to get off the road as the junction was just about 200yrds away ,so i tried to start it it started and then bang and something was poking out the sump , oil comeing out like a goodun , any way got to the opel garage curtisy of the breakdown services and was told it will cost 4000 euros , a new engine in other words ,so at the moment were back in the uk , the frontys in france ( boulogne ) . it will take at least 6 wks to be recovered back home .the engine had only done 71000 miles , its a l reg sport , . could any of you kind people please tell me where i could get a decent 2ltr engine from . as i want to stop with the frontys ,

There where a couple of 20L engines on ebay if that helps, last time I looked one was around £100. Ste

Re: my frontys diedDude that's bad luck. MAkes you think about breakdown cover though - I'm glad I pay for a deluxe package. I just need to go on holiday now and hope I don't have to use it. A 2.0i should be easy peasy to pick up for pennies. Keep us posted chum. Cheers
