banter general discussions etc

Just need a little rant.....
Have surgicaly removed the lower ball joint all but the shaft. Have destroyed a lgv scissor ball joint remover (went bang), have heated it till it glows, chilled it and drowned it wd40. Have beaten it with hammer (helped mood) but all to no avail.
So its being left to soak longer while I contemplate a better way of extruding the bugger.
Needless to say I dont really intend on trying the drivers lower before kirton.
Oh and my driver cv boot is split, c'est dung.

I know how you feel, I don’t get on with bottom ball joints, one job I never ever have any luck with… Best thing I can recommend is to unwind the torsion bar, undo the BJ castle nut but leave on the last 3 threads or so to prevent damage. Insert splitter, wind the splitter up, heat the casting/hub carrier, then whack the stuffing out of the hub carrier. Another way is to put a bottle jack under the BJ and jack up, then hit the hub carrier. (just make sure you have supports/ stands under the car)

hhhmmm I'm only left with the shaft.... cant get nut back on either. looks like beating is the best option.

Get the jack under it to put the weight of the front end on the bleater, then whack the stuffing out of it…

I got one front wheel on my truck, thanks to 2 bits of 30mm thick 60mm wide 150mm long bits of steel and 2 long 16mm bolts. The add hock press didnt work on its own, needed some serious heat and one big hit from the ommer. 2nd side now has hub off, new top ball, just need the cv boot (bought glue together jobbie), new bearings (on route from Milners, no inner listed so gone for trooper) and the dreaded ball joint. Will attack with grinder Tuesday, having quickly done the jack and T... then the propper splitter to no avail.

Just make sure you grease up the new bj with coppaslip before tightening it up This makes a huge difference when having to separate them again

Acres of trouble with my bottom BJ's. Broke a fork type splitter per side trying to get them off. Then as mentioned I copper greased them before putting the new ones in. All tight and steady on the road now though so well worth it.
I also drink Port and I'm not ashamed to say it! Me Truck
