There are many schools of thought on this.

Many here will probably say Midlands, however personally speaking I think that Midland is overpriced for what they have... and are prone to just as many problems as any other radio.

Try getting yourself a Maycom EM27.

That's what I've got, I've not had ANY trouble with it at all, it's been reliable and has many really good features.

Im not a Cb radio buff. but does it really matter these days on what type, i know back in the 80s it did, we all wanted best range and the likes. but as there is so few people use them, apart from 4x4 people, truckers, and a few idiots around,

Depending on what you want you CB radio for, if its for laning and the likes, get yourself down to maplins, or their web site, they do rigs starting around 40 to 50 quid and mag mount antenna for 15 quid, which is ready tuned. in my opinoion, there is no need to pay bucks for a system as there is no one really out there to chat to.

so for the rig, ready tuned and mag mount, ease of fitting, have a look there.

Ive kinda got free donated old rigs they may be big but they work, and my maplins swr free areal for a tenner, cant complain

Suits me for laning as it doesn't matter how good your rig is in Wales you will never hear anyone in another group if they are over a mountain in another valley

Think on my freebie with my cheapo areal I was the only one who could hear Sir Doris when we lost him
