Offroading With LPG

Just a quick one to hopefully settle a concern ive got.....

Ive got a fronty A that ive changed the engine on, hasnt cost me much so im thinking of trying offroading, which i never have before....

Problem is, its got an LPG conversion with an external tank under the car at the back.

How likely am i to get problems with grounding etc? Do they ever explode from such activity??

Perhaps i should cable-tie a pillow to it??

you should be ok, as long as you dont go nuts over rocks, it will be fine, there are a few FOG members go offroad with LPG

not 100% sure but it is pressurised Liquid Petroleum Gas and if it did go, the 1:10 at Farley would be a doddle to get up

Its safe, If it holed the tank and somehow ignighted it the flash would self extinguish at the split like aflash back arrestor. The gas fitter checked for aleak on our 30 tonnes of liquid oxy with a zippo, Gas needs a medium to stay alight, ie spark plug.

That said the initial fireball outside the tank could be a scary moment, been there done that, a fireball aint a nice place to be.

LPG is safer than petrol, also the tank is much stronger than a petrol tank.
Just make sure the tank straps are secure and adequate and the pipe run is not in a vulnerable position it should be up high on side chasse rail.

thanks for that guys, all good advice. i'll have a good look over it before taking it offroad and maybe keep a fire extinguisher on board
