Happy Valley - 05/05/08Well, Woke up bright and early on Monday morning. Fell asleep again and got up at about 2pm and felt like doing something. So... Me and Ruth decided to have a little look see at some of the BOATS near us. After leaving copies of maps with our routes marked out in case we should get lost or break down we set off with the Happy Valley in mind. Unfortunately the pics arent in order as they were taken with 3 different cameras. I took about 4 pics the realised that I had left the memory card at home. Ruth filled her memory card up and then we were just left with the camera on my phone. So not the greatest photographic exhibition ever but I think you will get the idea. Ruth even had a go at a short water crossing and I tried my hand at a little gate repair.

Re: Happy Valley - 05/05/08Yup, its a cracker. And its so different when you go the opposite direction as well. From the tywyn side its nice and easy, going the other way from pennal you have those steps to contend with and they are slippery sods even when dry. At the pennal end there is a cottage at the start and the owner has nicked a council sign that used to read "No Road Markings" and crossed out "Markings" and slung it across the gate.. mind you, there was a gate about halfway that (I think, judging by the tyre tracks) some 4x4ers had taken off its hinges and discarded it by the side of the track, easier then closing it again I assume. Sign on the post saying keep gate closed and a farmer had painted the same on the gate so I put that back on its hinges, closed it after me and went on my merry way.
Re: Happy Valley - 05/05/08Yer its a totally diffrent lane when you do it in reverse, Ive done it twice and loved it both times.
Well done with the gate I can feel a mooch down your way soon Ste

Re: Happy Valley - 05/05/08S'funny you should mention a trip down this way. Me and Roo were thinking of organising a weekend down here. Between the 2 of us we can put up 6 to 8 depending on whether singles or couples and there is ample parking. We were thinking of July sometime. Gives us time to scout some lanes beforehand.
