daft thought but....hi all ive often wondered if it possible to fit the engine from the 4.0 petrol jeep into a frontera sport?
if not what other engines fit in there? rob ![]()
Re: daft thought but....you could mate but it wuld cost a fair old bit to do u need to use all the looms and ecus from the jeep and not to mention the gear box and drive trains better of sticking with the frontys engine more reliable .

Re: daft thought but....Y bother, the 4.0 is 184bhp (3960 cc V6) when the fronty has the option of the isuzu v6?

Re: daft thought but....Just seen your profile............Modifications: none - just saving up for a frontera would like a sport but any will do
Which are you getting first the car or the engine.?
Re: daft thought but....The early 4.0 in the Cherokee (1987) was 173bhp, and a high power version was available with 177bhp, then in 91 (the later modal) it was reworked and developed and had 190bhp (high power version)

Re: daft thought but....yeah years from very very late 93 to early 96 eg l-m-p before the shape changed my parents have 2 a black l reg 4.0 and another green 4.0 looking at the engine from the front it dosent seem that much bigger than the sports 2.0 engine and well both of the have lasted longer the frontera we had after 2 days the cam shaft sensor had gone
but anyway i justed wondered what it really would be like if someone chucked one in eg running gear from the jeep to the fronty well the kickdown from the auto box is really good and i dont think it would be missed if it would be found in the sport! p.s now i know why it says 4.0 high output on the badge lol cheers rob
Re: daft thought but....It would be a lot cheaper to get a 3.2V6 sport than to put the 4.0 engine in there, and you would get more power from it. About £500 and a little TLC can get the 3.2 closer to 300bhp than 200bhp if you get a good engine, and you won't have to pay anymore on insurance....

Some day it will be how I want it to be...
