Re: Outdoor funThis is quite exciting too, you´ll never know when you have to take a shevel and start digging. Ground is frozen, and sometimes grip says goodbye...I have no studs in my tyres, whitch makes this more exciting!
Re: Outdoor funLast sunday i decided to go and test some limits...About 30cm of new snow came during few days, and air was around 5 degrees, so snow was very wet and slippery.
![]() Everything went well before i had to reverse and turn around. In picture below this, i´m not stuck yet, even snow depth was about 50- 70cm from the ground. And snow was very wet, it stucked like concrete under my car. ![]() So i got stuck, and i had to use a shevel about 1,5hrs to get wet snow under my car away. After i finally got free, ground looked like a battlezone. Whats the lesson in this? I should use studs in my tyres in those conditions. With stud its easier to get a grip, because theres always 1-2 cm of pure ice just above sandy ground. But i would do this again! ![]()

Re: Outdoor funI made a outdoor trip today, and few photos. I´ll put those here so i´m not polluting every topic in FOG...
Outside temp was nice -18C, so it was fresh air to breathe in. This will not include any Fronty pics, sorry. They will come later. At first i found a place where female black grouse has met a hawk (falcon?). Hawk is no more hungry. ![]() Here is some small frost and bright light. Sun starts to set, it was 13.00 hours at the moment. ![]() One more, the sun goes lower. ![]() And finally, highlight of the walk, bobcat trails...Grown up one. Bobcat on the left, some dog on the right. ![]() More pics coming when we get more snow, now heres only 10- 15cm thickness. Its a piece of cake for Sporty one.
Re: Outdoor funHi Finn, cool pic`s love the third one down marvellous shot
Re: Outdoor funI placed the sun behind that tree, it was making me blind. Sun above snow can be really blinding, it brings water to eyes quite soon.
Re: Outdoor funYes I can understand that reason, stunning outcome though. It would be really hard to take a similar scene in England as the Sun does not have as much power over here.
Re: Outdoor funI have often seen very beautiful "games" with sun and snow, and those scenes can be really beautiful. Only few times in my life i´ve seen that "blue moment" in the forest. That is just amazing, snow and everything looks like pale blue. That should be captured to camera.
Re: Outdoor funYou should send that shot to some Calender makers,it is very pleasing to the eye
Re: Outdoor funLast time i saw that was about 5 years ago, then i didnt have a camera with me. Now i´m carrying this Nokia N70 with me all the time and have a better chance of taking pics. But i´ll bet that this blue moment will not show itself for a long time... Its a combination of sun and weather, and most important thing is that place where you are.
Re: Outdoor funDo your Spaniels like all that deep snow ?? It must make recovering the grouse much more difficult for them
Re: Outdoor funI dont know do they like it, but they will go ahead! Spaniels are quite stupid (Sorry if i hurt somebodys feelings), they just like to run, and its possible that they dont even notice that snow... Monsters of energy.
Re: Outdoor funLooks like a lot of fun, looking forward to Finland 2010 !
