Due to my Boot button failing I have managed to twist my one and only key and was wondering if it was just a simple case of getting a couple cut or if they had to be "programmed" as well?
Sorry for the numpty question, but better safe than sorry

Getting a key cut?Hello all.
Due to my Boot button failing I have managed to twist my one and only key and was wondering if it was just a simple case of getting a couple cut or if they had to be "programmed" as well? Sorry for the numpty question, but better safe than sorry If you're sat there thinking things just can't get any worse, just wait......
Re: Getting a key cut?If its a 2.4, then its just a local key maker. Mine has bent a few times as it fits our forklifts quiet well
Fronty no.4, pimp mobile Treg 3.2 LWB lifted 2.5"
Fronty no.5 2.8 swb hd coils +2" 31"machos.
Re: Getting a key cut?That reminds me, I need to get me a spare cut (as my spare just rattles around in the ignition and wont turn the barrel)

Re: Getting a key cut?Tried to get a key cut for my 98 2l sport at Timpsons at the weekend, they tried allsorts but the keys they cut, although fitting, would not turn in the barrel, in the end they gave me my money back plus the 2 keys they had cut for me. Is it worth trying somewhere else or should I just cough up at a VX main dealer? The guy at Timpsons said that mine did have a chip in it, as did the ones he cut for me.
Someone mention laning? Just tell me when and where!
Re: Getting a key cut?I had a similar problem on my previous fronty, the blanks listed in the book wasn’t quite right, so I went back and asked them to use an Isuzu blank, all worked fine.
With the ones thay gave you FOC, try and thin them down with a file. http://www.crag-uk.org" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Re: Getting a key cut?The blank they should be using is a GM14 been throught as well.
The nice locksmith went through about 6 key blanks before it was right. ROADS? WHERE WERE GOING WE DON'T NEED ROADS!!
Re: Getting a key cut?Thanks for the replies lads. The guy at Timpsons has already ground some of each side of the key, but its worth having another go myself though. There is a code on the key, vx1tk1, whether this means anything I don't know. Will try another shop and ask them for a Gm14 blank.

Re: Getting a key cut?Went and got one cut yesterday and it turns out it is actually a Mitsi key that transfers across Mitsi, Isuzu and Vauxhall. Still needs a bit of fettling but all in all not too bad.
