I now have a full woodshed!
As many of you said (Thanks!) ,treat it with respect.
I guess it's one of those things, read the manual until you can recite it word for word.
Just be on your guard all the time.
Thanks!

Re: Am I being a wuzz? That article was a good read about the knife laws.
Very down to earth and sensible! As for an axe, they can be as dangerous or in the wrong hands, more dangerous than a chainsaw.. The advice given on this thread by dandan is very good, very sensible and straight to the point. There is only one other thing I would add to that.. Raise any wood you want to cut off the ground, get yourself another piece of wood, cut a "V" shape out of it to lay your logs in so that you cut the raised end.. (I say wood because you can use it for the fire later if you want as well, and you can use it as a chopping block when you turn it over). NEVER EVER cut any logs while they are laying on the ground. If the blade of the chainsaw hits the dirt and a small rock in there you can get kickback like you wouldn't believe and take your face off! (even if the brake works) AND ALWAYS make sure your brake works. If it ever ceases to work take the chainsaw in for immediate repair! While I'm not a logger, or sawmill worker etc, I was raised with chainsaws from a very young age, if I can give any sensible advice please drop me a PM. The small saw at the end is a Stihl 056 AVSEQ
Re: Am I being a wuzz?Recently got a chainsaw, prior experience was with small electric jobbies @ 12" but Iv found they have never lasted so I bit the bullet and got a petrol, big difference in the power. This is an 18" 45cc Ama. Perfect for logs and general garden usage. Also got a chainsaw table with it which in my opinion is one of the simplest and best accessories for a chainsaw. A safety helmet with earmuffs and face mask is essential as well! I too now have a full wood shed.
Re: Am I being a wuzz?ROADS? WHERE WERE GOING WE DON'T NEED ROADS!!
Re: Am I being a wuzz? It's not as bad as you think.
I'm fine with mine now, once you get it in your head to think "safety" all the time while using it. Now saved a small fortune on logs for burning. When you think that the average bag of logs from a garage is about £3.50 - £4 and will only just last an evening, it only takes 5 minutes or less to cut that amount with the chainsaw, it's paid for itself already! Re: Am I being a wuzz?Chainsaws rock....I got a stihl with a 24" cutter bar on it...beasty. Dont be scared of your chainsaw...relax and let the machine do the work.
You want scary? do what I tried when I ran out of gogo juice for chainsaw halfway through pruning one of my cherry trees..... Fitted a circular saw blade into a makita 10" angle grinder and finished the job with this....boy she kicked a bit- demon tool!!! DONT TRY THIS IT AT HOME!! Heres a nothing good one for you....DIY LATHE All you need is a Electric drill, workmate and 4.5" angle grinder. Clamp or bolt workpiece to be turned into drill chuck. Hold drill flat on its side down on workmate and give it max rpm. Use grinder in other hand and work along work piece. Achieve final finishing by replacing grinder disc with a 180-240 grit disc on backing pad and repeat. Great for turning down bushes, pins and loosing fingers and limbs Laters Gregster Check out the index thread below where pics/reviews from all our past meets can be found!!!!
click here for the SE Events Index/links Thread...see all the reviews and whats coming up soon! Looks like I'm in trouble with the Mrs's again... She asked me what I'd most like to do to her body... Apparently "Identify it" is not the correct answer! MAKE IT or BREAK IT! TEAMXTREME4X4 ![]()
