When I fitted my new alarm (or more correctly one of my work mates who used to be a VW/BMW mechanic fitted it and I stood there in awe) we went thru and removed each section cutting out each part of the alarm and then test starting the vehicle to make sure it still worked.. so after each module was removed a quick start and then stop, we then got to the alarm ECU we did the same.. but nothing was unrecoverable..

If you're planning on removing any of the alarm stuff it's the best way to do it.. :D

There is a photo somewhere of all the stuff removed from under my dash.. a pile of wires you wouldn't believe.
