TOR greenlane run - with South Wales Pajero Off-Road Club

On Saturday 1st March me and Rich tagged along with Yakatar and a few member's of SWPORC to do the run featured in TOR feb magazine in South Shropshire.
It was a great day out and Rich and I thoughly enjoyed it.Thank You Yakatar

just one question i thought one of the rules were run in blocks of 4 motors some of the photos show 5 and 6 in a line

Good day was had by all, didn't get many photo's as I was too busy figuring out where to go

Please excuse my ramblings, it is late so in no particular order here goes

Had been planning a laning trip up around Shropshire way for a while and the TOR road book covered some of the lanes I'd planned so decided to use it.

I did have a few reservations, was worried that after being published in a 4x4 mag that the lanes would have been abused by 4x4 nutters and spoil it for the rest of us so the trip was done on the understanding that any lanes we came across that looked in the slightest way overused would get left and move on and if there had been serious rain leading up to it the plug would get pulled on the trip.

Seven vehicles turned up, plan was to split up for the tracks but follow each other on the road sections, in a few places we did end up meeting due to the odd obstruction on the track.

In the end we only did a subset of the road book and most of the lanes were well surfaced, mostly rock/gravel with a few muddy bits thrown in, no problem for a proper 4x4. Did come across 2 trees that had blown down in the recent storms though and the one section (see pics) had some big lean angles

The worst part was scratching, lots n lots of scatchy bits, paintwork took a hammering and the Fronty is now in serious need of a good polish.

Having been on several laning runs had gained valuable experience but never led or done the navigating. TBH was bricking it a bit. There were no novices involved and I still learned lots tho, would do it again but having learn't several invaluable lessons there are some things I would definatly do differently but overall it went well

Glad to read you had a good day out.
It’s a catch 22 with publicity on lanes, some run a risk of getting damaged from over use then closed, but on the other hand it keeps lanes open and passable that would otherwise become overgrown, impassable and closed.
