Trying to find....Evening people,
I'm trying to find a post on bleeding the diesel system on a 2.2 lwb, I know I've read it somewhere and have a suspicion this job it's a git to get right. Cheers, Joe
Re: Trying to find....Try the how too section, whats up?
Fronty no.4, pimp mobile Treg 3.2 LWB lifted 2.5"
Fronty no.5 2.8 swb hd coils +2" 31"machos.
Re: Trying to find....Will not start at the moment, I mad the mistake of trying to bleed the system and have found out that you need a priming pump to bleed the system back to the fuel tank.
My local diesel fitter is happy to sort the problems with the engine light but I can't get it started to drive it to his garage. Joe
Re: Trying to find....There is a section in the How to on getting your 2.2 going again after a bodged filter change.
Have you tried loosening the injectors in turn and pumping the primer? Does the primer go hard when pumping? Fronty no.4, pimp mobile Treg 3.2 LWB lifted 2.5"
Fronty no.5 2.8 swb hd coils +2" 31"machos.
Re: Trying to find....There ain`t a primer on a 2.2
Re: Trying to find....You can fit an inline priming "bulb" available from good motor factors, I`ve got one somewhere in the garage, pity you wasn`t nearer. They will eventually bleed through by cranking if you`ve got a good battery, BUT be warned this method may cause injection pump failure.
Re: Trying to find....I've been reading about pump failure, expensive!
Re: Trying to find....How does a primer bulb work?
There is a tyre valve on the top of the primer tube and I would of thought this would of needed to be pressed as the flow of diesel exits the bulb? Bl**dy motorcars.....grrrrr
Re: Trying to find....its a rubber bulb with a one way valve in it and pipe either end
it draws derv up through the system then back to tank clearing air a bit liike this ![]()
Re: Trying to find....Thanks John, that picture answers a lot of questions.

Re: Trying to find....Or........if you have access to compressor......loosen bleed nipple @ filter end, apply air line to fuel tank filler, seal with cloth (rag) and apply air pressure......fuel pushed through to filter etc, second person needed to tighten bleed screws
What have I told you about Thinking Erroll??
Re: Trying to find....I bleed the system finally this afternoon and now I'm up and running again, hurrrrahhhhh.
What a nightmare trying to aquire the right hose fittings though, I thought vauxhall would be able to supply the adaptor for the primer pipe. Wrong! The guy in parts pasted me onto their service department as it's a specialist tool, ya right! He couldn't do anything for me as he says it's company policy to not sell tools like this to the public, and even though he had one he could lend it. That bleep me off big time so I went home and took the primer pipe off and went in search of a local pipefitting suppliers. So now I have a 1/4 turn ball valve in place of the vauxhall primer and a hose adapters either side, all I have to do is fit the bulb pump to valve, pump and open the valve and bleed system and close valve again. Now it' bleed the handle for the valve is kept in the cab and I won't be contacting vauxhall parts again as they have proved to be completely unhelpful in situations like this. Thanks for all your help, Joe Fronteraowners. 1 WINNER Vauxhall customer service. o
Re: Trying to find....Glad to read you sorted it out.
As for your poor experience, remember it’s not Vauxhall; it’s a dealership that was unhelpful. http://www.crag-uk.org" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
