What a week~! *sigh* >>> WIRING HELP NEEDED <<Well this has been one hell of a week, or actually a fortnight.
On the day after my birthday I drove to Cornwall to drop off a gearbox for Trog (hope your truck is working alright for you now mate) On the way back I seem to have stuffed my alternator as it suddenly stopped regulating and was putting out in excess of 15 volts. Source a new alternator (well new second hand one) and it was sent down to me, arrived today (thanks Trugga). When getting near to home I noticed a bit of a grinding sort of noise coming from the rear end of the truck.. but thought nothing of it. The noise got worse, went to the mechanic and he said oh, that'll be the Universal Joint in the drive shaft (as it had some play in it), so £55 extra on my account at the mechanics for the part, plus fitting etc... The noise didn't go away, and by now the groaning/grinding noise was HORRID, so this morning dropped the vehicle off to the mechanic to check out the rear wheel bearings/brakes and see what was up. O/S rear wheel, brakes, etc all taken off... Leakage from the seal to the drive half shaft... Everything removed in order to take out the half shaft... And no dice. It won't come out and has broken up a slide hammer in the attempts to remove it. Now my car is completely off the road until the half shaft can be removed to re-do the bearings! I MAY have to get a new diff as it's possibly easier to do! F.F.S. I need a holiday from this car! What next? Ok, finished my rant now. All in all though, at a guess I don't think the bits which have to be replaced would have lasted much longer, but it would have been better if they'd lasted at least until pay day! I am FLAT BROKE. Dammit! Last edited by rangaKoo on Fri Feb 15, 2008 9:53 pm, edited 2 times in total.

The Haynes manual describes the rear half-shaft removal process on page 9-6 - reads easily enough.
Do you have a Haynes ? I'd offer to scan and email but my main PC is still out of action) On a lighter note, did you do any vacuuming after opening the parcel ? Lawrence

Ok...
Has anyone got a 2.0i SWB Rear DIFF? Needs to be in good working order and preferably from a 1993/4 model (as I know that way it'll be the same ratio) And the next BIG question is... Can you deliver it to my mechanics??? It's needed somewhat urgently. (IE Thurs or Friday at the latest!) The vehicle is currently a couple of miles out of Alton in Hampshire and I could meet you in Alton during the day and show you where to deliver it. If you can help, please PM me asap for my mobile number. Cheers, Si www.4x4search.org - your 4x4 search engine. 100% human submitted and edited!

This is the back of my new Alternator (thanks to Trugga) it's from a 2.8 Frontera.
This is the specs of the Alternator in case your wondering.
Now what I need is for someone to look at the top picture, and hopefully to tell me what wires go on to what pin using the order they are in there. LEFT TOP RIGHT BOTTOM RIGHT If you can do that you'll be a leg end.. Cos unfortunately my current alternator that's survived for 2 weeks since it first started playing up has today given up the ghost totally. I was running on battery alone and now it's down around 11v when idling and there is NO CHARGE going in to it. As such, I MUST fit this new alternator tomorrow or I'll be stuffed. Please help folks! www.4x4search.org - your 4x4 search engine. 100% human submitted and edited!
