HI FOLKS,
I AM A PROUD OWNER  OF A 1999 FRONTERA 2.2TD ESTATE WHICH I HAVE OWNED FOR OVER 5YRS AND LOVED EVERY MINUTE OF IT.I AM GUTTED TO TELL YOU IT HAS FINALLY GIVE UP  .IT HAS BEEN ON A DIAGNOSTICS,AND A FAULT CODE (CAMBUS RECEIVER ERROR CAME UP)
I HAVE COVERED 95,000 MILES IN HER AND THE DEISEL PUMP HAS GONE UP THE SWANEY  .
I HEAR THAT A NEW DEISEL PUMP COULD SET ME BACK ABOUT 4 GRAND.ALSO,A RECONDITIONED ONE IS AROUND £1500.
IT COULD MEAN BYE BYE  BABY FOR MY LOVELY 4X4 AS THAT KIND OF MONEY IS OUT OF THE EQUATION.HAS ANYONE HAVE ANY QUICK FIK,
COULD ANYONE SUGGEST ANYTHING AT ALL?

The frontera doesn’t use can bus protocols to communicate so if you have attached a diagnostic device that’s can bus, then you will come up with that error you have mentioned.
Also note, that the 99 frontera is not 100% obd2 protocol compatible

alright lads, no probs now the car is sorted. it needed a new diesel pump, the ecu on the pump gave up hence the canbus receiver error that would not clear. got the pump at the local diesel specialist at a cost of £716.75 inc vat  , me a my mate fitted and cleared the fault code so there were no labour charges (good buddy my mechanic mate is):D . it took us about 4 hours job done. back to happy motoring for now, thanks for all the replies. browny.

Well done that man for sorting it out. Its a shame when something expensive goes and it seems pointless repairing/replacing a part. All worth it in the end though if the car is generally a good un'
