response networkits been mentioned on here before about whether they are useful or not
as a member of 4x4 response north east i'm very much in favour of them and last week we were called out by northern doctors urgent care myself and another member, paul, were called out to take a doctor from hexham hospital to 2 home visits in the local area that he would of been unable to attend in a car the roads in northumberland were very icy and there was still a lot of snow on the higher roads after we were stood down pauls defender slid off the road and hit a tree fortunately the winch bumper took the impact but it gives you an idea of the conditions that night the fact that 2 families were relieved to see the doctor that night was a good thing, if its helped changed 2 families minds about the use of 4x4s then great but personally i feel that response is a way of using a little of your spare time to put something back into the community and anyone in the north east interested in finding out more can look here http://www.4x4responsenortheast.co.uk Phil, member of http://www.northtyne4x4.com and http://www.4x4responsenortheast.co.uk

We don't have a 4x4 responce network down here in the south west
it would be a darned fine idea too ......as theres shed-loads of ultra rural areas that are difficult to get to even when it's perfect conditions
