OK so the sport has a cavalier based engine - right?
Sooooooooo If I can get hold of a cavalier with the Vauxhall 1.7 td engine - would it fit onto the sports Gearbox, and would engine mounts etc be the same? Just that I have seen a few cheap sports - but cant live with the Mpg of the 2.0 petrol, so got thinking along those lines - the 1700 td is a fairly pokey engine so Mpg should be improved (compared to the petrol) all in the planning stages at the mo - but thought id put the idea out there and get some answers - hopefully 
brava 2.5 fits the frontera 2.0 only need to swap belllhousing the cav is fwd as opposed to the frontera being rwd therefore the bellhousing off a cav will not fit as its a transverse box

If you are going to swap over to a diesel then get a 2.8 engine and put in it... you need a new gearbox but at least your getting something which can pull the heavy body.
The 2.0 has bad economy because of the weight of the body/chassis in the Fronty. The 1.7 is going to be worse at a guess, despite being a diesel it will be struggling eternally to pull the weight.
