Guinness World Record Attempt - DiscussionModerator: bobbinsjob sounds good to me too! Only prob I can see with that is that alot of peeps may be coming from quite a distance and will be bringing caravans to make a weekend of it. sites with a year round license are fewer so would have do do some looking round when we know the venue and dates available but a record breaking & bonfire weekend could be spectacular

i agree about the camping, but what if we were to pay a farmer for the use of one of his fields, if we said we'd all pay a tenner each for the use of his field 300+ members at that amount equals up to £3000 for the use of that field for a weekend, i don't think any farmer would say no to that

definately worth thinking about

Hi All, Rob, Great idea, When we find out where the attempt will take place, maybe someone from that area, can either make sone enquiries or we can place an add in the local local paper. I think every farmer in the UK would bit your hand off, for 3 k to use his field, maybe we could offer a bit less and give some to the website. Good shout though Rob.

The only problem with that is this website will require a DEFRA exemption certificate, a constitution, rules etc . Not a easy thing to get or arrange. The best thing is to find a bona fide campsite near to the venue, but again, holding it on November 5th, a campsite will be difficult to find let alone allowing fireworks and a big BBQ. Martin

i agree totally martin, but technically we won't be doing any offroading on his land just camping, so defra would'nt be able to say anything about it, but then again they'd prob find a loophole somewhere to get at us

I'm sure the DEFRA thing is to do with farmer's laying their fields fallow and in return they get a bung (sorry, cash incentive), from the government.
If they were to hire out a field for motor sport event, they would loose that incentive. Whether that includes other activities, such as camping, I'm not sure. But in a nutshell, that is my understanding (for those who aren't quite sure what this is all about) Lawrence
to be honest i've pretty much read up on defra what lawrence has said here

Sorry about the spanner folk`s.
![]() ![]() ![]() When I marshalled for the M.G car club a few years back we camped/carravaned overnight in the curcuit infield area. This had the advantage that everyone arrived in dribs and drabs then stayed on site prior to/during event. Had this not been the case at some point there would have been a serious convoy this bringing the need for policeing
local campsites may be good..... maybe we could just book a whole one for fronty's only.. guess its just finding one open in november...

hi all, just been up to stoke for the weekend and noticed that Silverstone is only 1 juction up the M1 from Billing Aquqdrome which can cater fior loads of caravans and is not very expensive according to their website
