Regards Wales first bit of advice don't go on your own. Pete
Re: hello from bedfordHi,
I've done several trips to Wales, as Pete said don't go and take just 1 car. Go in a group of 2-5 if possible just in case there is any problems with running out of fuel, bursting a water pipe or getting stuck. Heavy duty tow strops, tools, blankets, water, food etc. Fronty B, 2002 3.2 V6

Re: hello from bedford
Hi, if you want raw power then the 3.2 v6 is the one go for, but are rare in the SWB. The 2.2 DTi would be a good all rounder. Last resort would be the 2.2 petrol they are good and I up until today had 2 but prefer the 2.2 DTi to the petrol. I am also not far away.. nr. Kempston Fronty B, 2002 3.2 V6

Re: hello from bedfordHi bud
Was thinking the 2.2 Dti manly for cost on fuel as I don't have much money as I only work in the bike shop in town lol .seen one on eBay needs work but will have to see how much it goes for, it is a lwb tho
Re: hello from bedfordthis is the eBay listing number 111577145459 does anybody know of this one, what do i need to look out for
Re: hello from bedfordi have emailed them about the oil leak but just waiting for them to reply,I no it's not a bti but my thought was that it would be a good little project to get up and running if the price is right
Re: hello from bedfordAlso bear in mind you wont get the tax with it, rules have changed.
He says it a tidy truck but bonnet looks shot to me. Why not send him a message and go and have a look before bidding, you may find he will take an offer out of ebay. Pete
Re: hello from bedfordas above, with the 2.5 just make sure the engine light works and goes out once the engine has started. Also give it a quick test drive (on private land of course ) and listen for any nasty sounds, also make sure the turbo kicks in around 2k rpm (should be noticeable in 1st and 2nd at full throttle). Other than that its just making sure its not a rust bucket and also why its failed its MOT. In good working order with MOT 2.5's tend to sell for around £500-£750 to give you a rough idea

Re: hello from bedfordthanks for all the replies guys must say you guys are being very helpful loving the forum
the guy is saying the oil leak is coming from the sump area but he is not sure he haven't had it checked ?? does any one no of this happening to 2.5 tds ,could it be just the gasket from the sump?? sorry to keep asking don't no much on these trucks,i have only had a land rover s2a before thanks again adam
Re: hello from bedfordSump gaskets can leak, but then again what does he mean by oil leak? Some people could say a small weep as a oil leak, and yes technically it is leaking oil, but probably not worth loosing sleep over, on the other hand I've met a chap that said his car had a oil leak and it was gushing out as quick as he could put it in lol. So you'd have to make your own judgment on that, but seeing as you've owned a series 2a you should be fairly accustomed to oil leaks lol
Rust and how it runs are the two things to worry about the most. A weeping gasket won't be a big problem to fix, and most of these trucks as long as you keep them serviced and clean they'll keep going for many years! Places to look at for rust are the sills, particularly the rear of them just infront of the rear tyres, behind the front bumper along the bottom edge of the rad and front edge of the bonnet My 2.8 shorty - now sold, and comments here My old dti - now sold "Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming "WOW --- What a Ride!"
