Easy repair that mate, drill a 10mm hole in the center, rub down the paint, fibreglass or flexi-filler in(the hole allows it to push through to hold it in place) rub it down once its taken and a swift blow over with sum primer and then top coat, and Bobs your fannys aunt!

£300 seems fair. Complete bumpers for these on the bay for £40. May even be able to repair that. (or not bother and just pocket the cash )

Ha ha ha ha ha Danny doesnt know me or had a good look at my car I dont do body work I am not that much of a perfectionist (only in women ) it would look 20 times worse. I was thinking of getting the dent man around (mobile dent repairs) then getting two new tyres and doing the brakes all around (seems like yesterday I last did them ) Its a great car and well worth spending on so do we agree with Si that £300 for a bumper fitted and painted would sound about right ?

I would normally charge £150 to paint a bumper, and then whatever the bumper costs... Certainly quote for replacement rather than repair. Repairs are ok if either you are tarting the car up to get rid, or you cant get another bumper without it being silly money. The problem with sh1troen bumpers is they are so flimsy, and fillers tend not to flex the same amount, so if you catch the bumper in the future you will find it could crack where the repair was, sooner than it just flex and go back to its normal position with no damage. So the £300 figure sounds about right. I would not fix it, and just hold out for a bumper in the same "national health glasses" blueygreen off ebay...you should get one localish given time for about £50ish, and then bolt in on.Job done. bit of luck someone else might back into it again while you are waiting, and you can get paid out again for the same damage!

I am thinking of selling it as we dont need the big car any more but its been great for reliability and economy so I may hold out for 6 month or a year before selling. We would likely part ex for a new car anyway when its time to say goodbye so it may not be such an issue at a dealers part ex'ing

Well an update on this, I called the guy and told him I can sort the bumper for £300 to £350 he straight away said go through the insurance as he said "it is free" oh how the un-initiated need to learn . I tried to explain it wasn't free and he dug his heels in, it occurred even though I put my best (and its good ) phone voice on, he was thinking we where not insured. Well its a bummer for him as the water sensor is complaining now on the dash text read out and our insurance have warned it could be a right off, darn I tried to do the decent thing, if it does turn out to be a right off I am going to try and buy it back, the car is ace and I think I know the coolant issue Well went the nice way then he thought he screwed us so its who screws who

Update the car goes in tomorrow and we get another hire car from the insurance. Now the bit that really winds me up We have been getting hounded (4 or 5 calls a day) from "No win no fee" personal injury claim companies who are basically inciting fraud, they are trying to talk Lee into claiming even when she said she is not going to claim and not interested. I have discovered at least 3 or 4 companies have called so either the car hire firm, car repair garage or even the insurance company have passed on or sold our details to these personal injury claim companies Lee called the insurance company and they denied they pass on details of clients to third parties but we have only had one missed call since complaining to the insurance company
