Easy startOr, as it is known over here,Start Pilote.
Had to use it this morning as it was -22°C but she fired up no probs once it had got round the intercooler and all that. Only thing working here is the Fronty and the Yamaha Big Bear Quad bike. Tonight is forecast to be even colder so all the sheep, horses, alpacas, pigs and piglets are in the barn getting to know each other. The Fronty fired up fine till it got below -18°C the transit's starter cog is frozen on the spindle but luckily we don't need it at the moment. Tomorrow I'll be using the Fronty to tow start one of the tractors so we can get a bale of hay to the outdoor flock. If that doesn't work it will be a rope round the bale and sledge it out with the Fronty. I paid over the odds for her, and then had the DMF problem, but now I'm glad I bought her. We'd be ffffffd without her. My toes is cold My nose is skintit Winter's diabolic In't it. If you need something done quickly just ask a busy woman then get the f"k out of her way.
Re: Easy startWe used to have to start all the stackers and fiat allis's with that, they wouldnt have it any other way, the MOD had it ordered by the pallet load

Re: Easy startDidn't need it, Had to collect her indoors from the Railway station Monday 4am, --20*C with 5cm of snow, Fronty fired up first swing, and it's steep greenlane country for miles round here, only problem no heater !!!! frozen fingers!!!!
Re: Easy startIt is not the motors that get addicted; it is the owners who carry on using it rather than finding out what the problem is.
By the way I don't have indoors for the vehicles as the sheep, horses and alpacas are taking up all the space. Last edited by Frenchfarmer on Wed Feb 08, 2012 11:17 pm, edited 1 time in total.

Re: Easy startOne of my old diesels had a special hole drilled in the airbox so the end of the easystart can would fit straight in without any dismantling, and a bicycle bottle holder bolted to the front panel inside the engine bay to hold the easy start aerosol can.

Re: Easy startThe old Merc 608 LWBs had a thing like that as an option for cold climates.
BYTW.. how come old Transits don't have heater plugs but still start when it is Baltic? If you need something done quickly just ask a busy woman then get the f"k out of her way.
Re: Easy start4jb1 Can start below zero with no heater plugs, many a LR conversion have them but dont bother wiring the plugs up
The old Army bedfords had a little thingy on the dash that you popped a file of methanol in and it injected it into the cylinders to aid starting in chilly chilly weather Ste

What a lovely old truck smiffy, and what a lucky devil you are having a ride in it, I'd love to get behind the wheel of that Last edited by Drift on Fri Feb 10, 2012 10:45 pm, edited 1 time in total.
