Not sure what to do, I have a 1994 2.4i frontera, OK condition for the year,it runs on LPG which is a good thing as petrol pump died about 2 years ago, My mortgage ends in 6 months time so I'm going to buy something much newer, the tax on the frontie is up in april and the MOT in May. I'm going to get rid off it before the tax is up (so April ) Do I put it through an MOT (It would probably pass) do i sell it with one month MOT or just scrap it? What would i be likely to get as scrap? Or sell with MOT or without one? Looked on ebay but there are so few on there i can't gauge the price.

Motors for sale with little to no ticket with the added line "will pass no probs" always put me off, for the sake of what, 40 quid? presents your car in a much better light, definately put 12 months MOT on it give a good clean and stick it on ebay stating all stuff that needs fixing ect, will make at least 600 quid I reckon. Price of scrap these days is not what it used to be, a LWB frontera would fetch a tad under 200 quid on the scales round my way.
I dont know when the "winter premium" finishes but a decent reliable frontera will always fetch decent money on ebay, compare prices on there to here and its always a good few hundred quid more on the bay, gumtree a bit less so but more than they go for on the forums. LPG will add a few quid too.. You may find people wanting a tow vehicle for the summer around the time your looking to sell.. Dont sell for scrap money! (unless its to me haha!)
If your keen on making/saving a few pennies I would get the pump sorted, could be the relay or even filters ect, could see it fetch 800-900 quid easy.
What will the replacement be?? newer fronty or something different?

Thanks, it's definitely the petrol pump, The LPG kit has been on the car for 11 years (I had it fitted when i purchased fronty) never had any reason to get the petrol pump fixed as gas has been cheaper so I wouldn't run it on petrol anyway, I'll probably put it through the MOT, The last fronty 2.4i I saw on Ebay went for £380, I thought that Lets say i got £200 for scrap + MOT and ebay/paypal charges then it wouldn't be worth it, may just take the risk.
Thanks

Not sure what the next vehicle would be, I got the fronty when i moved into my present house as the house needed things doing to it and i also tend my fathers garden, I had to trailer a mower/tools and take garden waste to the tip etc. I had the LPG kit fitted when LPG was 29.9p per litre ( now 69.9ppl) I will miss the Fronty but fancy something a little sporty. With the adde bonus of being mortgage free i may push the boat out a little!

I would love to, but tax £215 and insurance £220 + MOT would be too much and the Mrs has a car as well so 3 cars and one motoerbike in a 2 person household would never wash!

Am only in me early thirties and not been driving long so I don't have the pleasure of remembering when fuel was cheap/cheaper! I never was much good with budgets/penny pinching but driving has made me a bit of a tight get ha!
Theres always cheap motors/fronties to be had, my take on it is everyone on here (except for me) know fronties inside out and undervalues them a bit, know which are the easier engines to work on, which are more reliable ect ect, your average ebayer just sees it as a big four wheel drive, regardless of it being a 2.8d or 2.2 petrol A or B, having been stupid enough to let my frontera go and regretting it big time I always have a good look around each day and see what around and the only cheap fronties I see are dervs needing a grands worth of new pump fitting! or ones which would cost a lot to make road legal..
(disregard all that anyways, to save you dealing with non paying bidders, paying out twice on paypal/ebay fees Ill go above and beyond and do you a favour, hold out your hand and Ill give you 200 quid!)
I hated going from a fronty to a 2 seater low down motor, you could be driving a nice M5 beemer but due to them big yellow revenue collectors and snail pace traffic unless you live out in the sticks you wont feel the benefit!
Why dont you get a 2005 B series fronty and stick a V8 in it lol, best of both worlds!

£200, that would be far too cheap, I'm going to put it through an MOT then advertise it mid April, Thanks for all the replies.

Ive been havin a look round mate n with wot youve said about it, pos n neg, in this neck of the woods youd be lookin at around £650 give or take with the MOT. thats just based on wots up round here n what folk have said. just as a rough idea for you matey, at the end of the day youll only get what someones willing to pay no matter what anyone says.
