How Reliable ??

Evening guys i have come across a couple of Fronti 2.0 litres very local which are going from between £650 - £950 and have around 80K on the clock. I was wanting some advice on reliability on these engines and what to look out for on them i really need something to pull my trailer and 2 junior size quad bikes and as my own 2.2i is having bottom end rattle issues i diont want to use it till i sort it. I would appreciate all the help and ehat to look out for on these engines. I did own one in 2004 - 06 which i bought for 1700 with 40k on the clock and it gave me no mechanical problems but a few rust problems where the roll cage sits on the inner arches in the boot. With such low mileage i had no issues but now i ma looking at ones with double mileage and need some input

A bit much. I certainly wouldn't be paying £950 for a 2.0l no matter the age.

The change over from A series 2.0 to B series (smallest engine being the 2.2) was in 1998 on an S reg. There were a few T reg 2.0 knocking around, but very rare. The 2.0 is fairly bullet proof in terms of reliability...provided it's serviced regular and has had the timing belt changed frequently.

Cheers James, I read on another post that the c20ne enigine is the better of the 2 the other engine bein the x20se which was also in the 2.0 ???

Mine had the x20 in (was an R reg) and had no problems at all. I can't comment on the c20 as never had one. The c20 was fitted in the earlier A series with the X2, obviously in the later ones.

K Jim cheers I have seen a few local ones on a M and N plate going for 750 to 850 with 80k on clock ??? How can i tell what engine it has ?

Look at the top of the engine. The cam cover is silver(ish), and the oil filler cap on the C20NE is yellow, and sits proud of the cam cover. The X20XE has a black cam cover and black cap that sits flush with the cam cover.

K that is useful info . Just tryin to gather as much info on reliabity etc before getting one as I have h/g issue with my curent 2.2i b series and can't affird to make the same mistake twice .
