Opinions on a V6 please

I've been offered another 3.2L V6,tell me if you all reckon it's worth the money, W reg, body work is tatty including 2 good rust spots (one on front of bonnet, one on rear door), autobox is fine, drives fine but engine management light is on ( this appeared as the cd player decided to stop working, so could it be related or just a coincidence?). My mechanic friend has a fault code reader but for some reason it won't work on the v6 model (typical). MOT till December, tax sept.
He wants £650 for it and won't budge. What do you all think?

If it's got Tax & MOT and any kind of service history then £650 is very reasonable.
Rust on the leading edge of the bonnet is very common on the B series so I wouldn't worry too much about that.
