Some small bales of straw or hay will get you out of most things.
Don't forget to cut the string before you spread them in front of the wheels but.

Bit of 6mm bar with a plate weded on it. Weld a bump stop behind it to stop it from opening more than 90degrees. Remember 6mm fillet weld 1 inch long will hold a ton. These things are going to have to be around 10" wide for most tyres out there.

I think flexi thin waffles would work, but its the links between the sections that are the weak point.

Could each part of a waffle board be a seperate section with an angle on each edge if needed that join together using a dovetail joint to stop them from slipping apart if the wheels spin just an idea.

Thats fine on a flat surface but it could be a problem on uneven surfaces, also it could split apart and fire from under the wheel like a missile when the wheel spins.
