Fed up of Firefox

Fed up of Firefox

Postby Drift on Tue Jun 15, 2010 11:30 pm

:D
Dont get me wrong I love the functions but its got to many glitches.

For a while now on ths and my last pc cutting/copy and pasting has been a nightmare just highlighting the text as the highlight either doesnt work or only covers sections of text.
I have gone through all my add on's and closed them one by and all together it makes no difference, I know there was an issue with the yahoo toolbar last year but I dont use Yahoo and thus dont have the toolbar.

So whats Google Chrome like?

I dumped firefox after the last update. It just seemed to slow up totally, and had tons of glitches.

Now using Chrome, which looks basic, but is quite good. Could never get the spell checker to work in FF, but it works ok in chrome.

Also, the visible area of a webpage is larger in chrome, which I like.

I prefer using IE. Cant along with any other, however i have been doing speed tests on IE, Google Chrome, Firefox, Safari and Opera over the last few weeks during peak time when i use the net the most and Goole Chrome has come out top by a long shot everytime so im going to give this a try.

I was reading a speed test report afew days ago, with chrome marginally ahead of the others with the exception of IE. Can't remember the units involved but firefox, opera and chrome were all around 2500, IE came in at around 450.

I prefer firefox, under windows. Under linux it's a bit of a pain. Second choice being opera and the latest version is rumoured to be even quicker.
If it's as fast as the mobile opera, which is like lightning compared to any other i've seen, then i'd imagine it'll top any new speed tests.

Google Chrome is similar to Firefox as its open source but launched by a commercial company, I think this would actually make it safer with the power of Google tech behind it as they couldnt afford to be associated with virus riddled software.

Just my view as a layman.

Is there a good add on to customise the favourites bar in Chrome? its all that lets it down for me.

Next to the address bar is a symbol that looks like a piece of paper, click that, the very top of the list is 'create application shortcuts' that will then place them on the desktop, start menu etc etc.

Is there a good add on to customise the favourites bar in Chrome?

Click the spanner in the top right, then choose extensions. It will then (probably) say:

Boo... No extensions installed :-(
Want to browse the gallery instead?

Click 'browse the gallery', type bookmarks in, and one called bookmarks is pretty good. This link direct to it may work:

https://chrome.google.com/extensions/de ... i?hl=en-gb
