Re: DODGY MECHANIC!Garage seem to be having a problem finding a radiator for me, are there any other models radiators that will fit a T reg 2.2i petrol with minimum fuss?
Re: DODGY MECHANIC!if its the same garage that replaced your original rad shouldnt they supply you with a new 1, as the 1 they supplied was faulty ?
point of interest mines a b series and stat and housing are all 1 complete part, i had to break the stat out of the housing to try without a stat in place if you can follow that WHY AINT I GOT AN ALL SINGING & ALL DANCING SIGNATURE LIKE BOXY & DRIFTY ?

Re: DODGY MECHANIC!as above mate £ 500 about for head gasket at an independent garage and as for the rad i'd go back the garage and tell em ya want ya money back or it's a out the back job for a thumping, or if thats not ya way tell em ya'll go through trading stanards and persue as far as ya need to to get ya money back!!
Re: DODGY MECHANIC!Yer all of topic here. The question was "has he been done?" which hardly rates a reply. A rad can split just because it was badly made. How has it suddenly become a head gasket job?
Don't simply treat the symptoms 'cos you'll spend the rest of your life working for the NHS with a free holiday from whoever supplies what you prescribed most ( alledgedly ) Start with the basics: was it overheating to start with; was it losing water, is their mayonnaise on the end of his dipstick, does he get a hot shower when he opens the rad cap? The idea is to diagnose the problem. Pompous, I'll get me coat, sorry. If you need something done quickly just ask a busy woman then get the f"k out of her way.
Re: DODGY MECHANIC!another point of interest is that you dont have to get mayo on the dipstick or oil filler cap for you to have a blown head gasket, as in my case in all depends on which point of the head gasket has blown as to where the water goes
i think all people are trying to do ff is try and save the guy getting done again if he was infact done in the 1st place ! WHY AINT I GOT AN ALL SINGING & ALL DANCING SIGNATURE LIKE BOXY & DRIFTY ?

Re: DODGY MECHANIC!Yeah mate everythings done now. Got the radiator done in the end as well as the head gasket, and thermostat, did the cam belt aswell while the engine was apart. Just need to sort me EGR valve now and thats me sorted!
The problem with the radiator was because of a company in Hull that the mechanic used for radiator repairs and reconditioning. Turned out they had billed the garage for a new radiator, which the cost was passed onto me, and then repaired the old one poorly and sent it back!
Re: DODGY MECHANIC!the cheeky buggers, glad to hear everythings almost sorted out, hopefully your get a good few years happy frontearing out of it now
