Re: somerset devon cornwallUnfortunately, you cant go off-road on the moors..you can only use the roads going through them.
There are very few lanes in Cornwall now.....most being classed as footpaths or bridleways, although the Surf boys have a couple way down west. Main place is Baldhu nearTruro, you can go anywhere as its unregulated, but beware of DEEP water and LOADS of TREES!! There are some pictures of the site in this section. viewtopic.php?f=30&t=16840 Myself and Jim (woodwizard) usually link up with the Toyota Surf guys when they have their annual Run To The Sun weekend, but this years has been cancelled due to health problems. There are lanes around Plymouth area, some going right through to Torbay, some more (non challenging) ones around Newton Abbott. The bad news is that I am shortly taking the Queens Shilling (well £2000 actually) and disposing of my Fronty this week after two happy years. But if anyone wants to go to Balhu at any time, give me a shout and I'll lead you there (weekends only...its closed through the week) and I'll be your camera man What have I told you about Thinking Erroll??
Re: somerset devon cornwallthanks for the info mate good to no

Re: somerset devon cornwallHi Neal, There is Dundry off road on the 4th July if your interested, Compton Basset this Sunday the 14th June (very short notice)or the 28th June, or if you just want a quiet plod, there are a lot of green lanes around the Bristol/Mendip area .
Check out the following links. http://www.dundryoffroad.co.uk/index.php?pr=Home_Page http://www.cboffroad.com/forum/index.php?action=ezportal;sa=page;p=3
Re: somerset devon cornwall
hi thanks for the reply cant do sunday where can i find out about the lanes the routes etc? just want to start off with some thing simple as the fronty as no mods yet and im just getting in to so do want to run before i can walk so to speak lol but will have a look at the link and if im free on the dates will pop along and have a bash cheers neal
Re: somerset devon cornwallDundry I have never done in the dry. In the wet I would say that it is only useable with mud tyres and even then expect to get stuck. Compton Basset I did a couple of weeks ago with my road truck that has no modifications just BFG AT tyres. If you pick your routes you would be fine.
How much off roading have you done? If its very little I used a company just south of Bristol for off road training as I had been out of the scene for 20 years and wanted to brush up. He charged about £90.00 for a half day training bigginers course and was spot on. My insurance company then reduced my excess by £150 as I had taken an official course. As for lanes I am a member of Bristol and west offroad club and they set up Greenlaning days so I let them do all the looking. They are worth having a look at and meet once a month for a pint and a chin wag. I know quite a bash around the Chew Valley if your interested we could sort out a small run to get you into it.
Re: somerset devon cornwallthats sounds good mate havent do anything like pay and play before have done some very light lanes when i lived in kent a few years ago but thats about it
just fancy having a proper go at it this time as i have no other hobbies at the mo and i have the 5x4 sat outside (my 2 year calls the fronty a 5x4 and its just stuck lol) im not to far from chew valley bout half hour so so yeah we can sort some thing out when we both free etc that would be good i think i would like to change the tyres first as there chunky but just road tyres dont want to be stuck every 5 mins thanks for the advice mate
Re: somerset devon cornwallWoodwizzard and I are in Somerset - Exmoor, but the Tiverton side as opposed to North Devon.
I actually work in Highbridge, Burnham and Cheddar areas so just travelling that far for a greenlaning day would be much better for us. Had a quick look at the Bristol and West Offroad and saved to Faves. Maybe we could get a small south west group together for a mini meet? ♥ We are most deeply asleep at the switch if we fancy we control any switches at all ♥ Annie Dillard
Re: somerset devon cornwallsmall world im living in highbridge now
Re: somerset devon cornwallOOOOooo yes...small world! lol I've seen quite a lot of Frontys on the way to and from work once I'm off the M5 and onto the A38. Maybe there's an opportunity to increase the southwest membership....best get some flyers printed...LOL

Re: somerset devon cornwallHi Neal
I'm an area youth worker for the North Sedgemoor Local Service Team. I was working in Highbridge Morland Hall on a Monday night but from next week I am doing some detached work around Highbridge and Burnham in the evening. If I see a Fronty flying around I'll give ya a wave..LOL Mind you, I could get some strange looks as I know you are not alone in your choice of vehicle in this area! LOL It would be good to get a few offroading days in fairly locally. Where we are on Exmoor most of the lanes are closed now. ♥ We are most deeply asleep at the switch if we fancy we control any switches at all ♥ Annie Dillard
