Hi guys and girls, Been a member on here a little while, joined as i was on the look out for a Frontera to use as an everyday car and for the odd green lane. I did intened to go for a 1999 LWB Diesel, but decided to look at the older diesels as i would not mind scratch/denting it off road. And i've come across a light blue M reg 2.3 turbo intercooled LWB with 130k and full history for £700 So my question is, what they like? Looking around they only made the 2.3 for one year, why is that, was it that bad?! What sort of MPG can i expect, are they a capable car on and off road?

All being well. is the £700 asking price OK, and is there anything to check for specific to this model? Sounds like i'll be sitting on the inside lane for any motorway trips. 97mph.....

Ermm 70mph with muds on is interesting 75 you see the fuel needle move downwards Check the 4wd system as most are not used much if ever, just check the levers move, the 4wd ( orange ) lights up on the dash, ideally find sof/ruff ground to test is, not always possible, check for oil/water leaks and axle noise, drive with window open for a mile or two, make sure you hear it started from cold, it will blow a little smoke but that should clear within 5 mins and it will sound like a bag of spanners but drive till it gets to operating temperature, should be quieter and no smoke, check heaters. The rest is just like a normal car check, good luck hope it pans out

500 might be a more reasonable price to aim for. As cars go its fairly old and newer models are in the 500 to 1000 bracket.
I also drink Port and I'm not ashamed to say it! Me Truck
