Re: Should i pay or should i protest? The only engine parts they share is the fuel filter housing and radiator, nothing else will fit, oh air filter element, thats it.
They are talking absolute rubbish, get them logged on to here Why is the engine going to fall out Out of curiosity how is the rest of the car for rust ? Ste

Re: Should i pay or should i protest?Photos of the rust and bolts would be interesting?
And scan the detailed bill so we can have a laugh at your expense?
Re: Should i pay or should i protest?Just realised yours is a 2.5 and the only bits again are the fuel filter housing and air filter, the rad I believe is not the same, but the whole of those three engines are completely different and no interchangeable parts or ancillaries.
R reg, unless its been dipped in salt often it should be ok down around the mounts. Ste

Re: Should i pay or should i protest?Hello, well i have my frontera back there was no arguements with opel when i asked them to put the truck on the lift so that i could take photographs of underneath, i have the link included so you guys can have a look at them
http://s457.photobucket.com/albums/qq29 ... th%20pics/ You can sort of see from the pics that they have replaced some parts, but not all. As far as i can see the major work that was explained to me needed doing, ie engine change well i cant see anything wrong. apart from the fact they didnt or couldnt fit a new fan on which i wanted doing so again im going to be cooked driving back from Arunjuez(madrid) to cherbourg its along way. so again i have to find a new fan in england. I would tell you what parts they have replaced but the invoice is in spanish, and only my partner can translate them for me all i can say is it cost 1064euros Im being sweet talked by my partner to get anotha 4x4, u know what woman are like esp spanish ones
Re: Should i pay or should i protest? They are a bit over zealous with the sealant.
I see best part of new front axle and sump, was there a problem with the front axle? Why a new cross member to? That fan doesnt look touched as the nuts behind still seem dirty, its well chewed though. Looks like they have had the torsion bars off to fit the axle and work on the sump, but fitted new mounts ( possibly ), question what is wrong with the old mounts if they are replaced. Other than the fuel tank cover rust isnt an issue and the engine mount should be fine. Ste

Re: Should i pay or should i protest?Having had a second, more relaxed look ( mad house here early evening ) they could have just polished the axel up a bit as they will have removed it.
But still puzzled as to why they replaced the cross member, most of the folks in here give there cars a battering and its not often they need to be replaced, mine is dented to bits but still functions, even came off ok when the clutch was done. Ste

Re: Should i pay or should i protest?Hi Ch3f,
Think when you get back to England, and book it into your garage, I think you'll be in a better position with regard to your car's engine etc , I don't think I'd tell them the report that you got from Spain, If I was you I'd just wait and see what they come back with.... Hopefully it will be a nice surprise for you Thanks for keeping us up dated Regards Roo

Re: Should i pay or should i protest?I have a feeling this is the weather strip, it fits between the rad and the slam panel at the front lower part of the rad, mine fell out so put it to one side and the Mrs threw it in the bin
