A Warning (Salisbury Plain)

The Surfers were out after Christmas and came across a particulaly unhappy scene.

An Isuzu looking vehicle in "the dew pond".....which happens to be a site of special scientific interest......he was caught in there by the MOD police.
He could be facing a £10,000 fine, vehicle crushed and possible imprisonment!!

Apparantly the site has been watched and warnings given for months, now somebody has been caught in the act, he can expect the worse!

Be careful where you venture on the Plains.

The MOD and local coucils give out warnings about what areas of the Plains are open/closed to the public. There may well be warning notices up, but before venturing out there, its best to check the notices first.
When we went in October there were places fenced off, but the green oval brigade went in anyway......a stupid move 'cause theres always range wardens/MOD police about who will escort you off the Plains or prosecute you or both, apparantly.

I saw the on MC the dew ponds are SSSI and are protected by law and way of the tracks.
The knobs deserve everything they get, once the dew ponds clay base is disturbed they can dry up.

From what Ive been reading the plains have been very busy the last week or so, I believe the MOD have suspended some of there heavier stuff on the plains for thirty days as it was to wet?

This should be dealt with in a manner that is well publicised,may make people think long & hard before going off the right of way.

If you are not following a Right Of Way with a proven rights for motorised vehicles than you are breaking the law.

The countryside is not our play ground, it is our heritage that we are allowed to enjoy sensibly.
