Bottom end knock, a Rumble

Reading tthrough posts, it seems the 2.2 petrol is not tye best engine vauxhall has ever made

would that be the 2.2 Xe or the XY, not sure if i got lettering right, but i think you will know what i mean.

what seems to keep coming up is bottom end knock, or a rummble, as the big eng or shells seem to be the cause...i know nothing about this, and have the 2.2, so what should i be looking for or listening to.
