Apologies admin - slightly off topic with the first bit but had to respond - It's like Fox Hunting.. all the faff and hype that went on around that.. just to stop a few blokes and their dogs chasing a pest accross a few fields. It's Narrow mindedness, and PC gone mad!A bit of a simplistic view on hunting! I think it was more about stopping uneccesary cruelty and using animals for sport and recreational purposes. We know that foxes probably won't become extinct as many hunts build artificial earths to encourage foxes onto their land so they then have something to hunt I agree that the term 'greenlaning' in TG was used without thought for consequences and the impact on the (environmentally friendly) 4x4 enthusiast

I once got a phone call from "Top Gear" when it was done from Birmingham.
About 1994 and I'd just bought a showroom demo. Nissan Sunny. That very same year Clarkson started the war against this model. "No one would want to do business with you if you arrived in one of these" etc. I wrote several letters to complain. The guy on the other end was probably called Roger or Rupert and was trying to explain to me that everything was done tongue in cheek without wanting to offend anyone.
But we all KNOW that Top Gear is taken LITERALLY by viewers. Look at my daily model of car now - a Berlingo Multispace. Clarkson drove one to a big booze market in France, gave it a hugely complimentary appraisal (it's on YouTube). What happened? Sales rocketed in the UK.
Another example: Look at the caravan film the three idiots did. Making caravanners (which I used to be one) look like nerds.
The same will happen now again with this 4x4 stupidity. I mean, you've only got to drive a Suzuki Jimny 1.3 and people will accuse you of destroying the planet! If you drive a Frontera then you not only wear white socks and drink tea with the spoon still in the mug, and probably carry a sawn-off shotgun, but are also the Devil incarnate!
Tony.
1996 2.0 Sport - owned since October 1998. 2002 Citroen Berlingo Multispace 1.6 16 valve 110 bhp.

Right, rant over, I'm off to check my organic veg for slugs, wear my sandels and hug some trees... But dont get me started on the hunting ban Yep, a hippy / tree hugger who thinks the ban is wrong...
Yep, it is wrong, should be alot stronger and alot easier to enforce.

speaking as someone who has lived in the countryside all my life and has seen the devistation that these cute furry creatures can cause in one night on a chicken population, i'm afraid i disagree. But hey, thats just my opinion. The thing i don't agree with now, and that i have witnessed a few times, is amature 'hunters' with big guns taking pot shots at the foxes and just injuring them. They then have a long and painful death in front of them. That is wrong..!! The problem i have with the ban, is the fact it was enforced and lobied by, 'townsfolk' and 'city dwellers' who have no idea of the countryside and were just force fed propaganda by the media. Also the fact that 90% of the people who i have spoken to who favour the ban just spout the same old thing.."a load of stuck up posh gits on horses". They dont even mention whether or not it is cruel to the fox. It is just a class thing to a lot of people. It is a fact that an overwhelming majority of people who live in the countryside are in favour of overturning the ban. To folk who live in the countryside, the specticle of the hunt is just as exciting as a big carnival or festival to people who live in cities. When there is a 'hunt' on that i know about now, i will go along and support it. Anyway, just my opinions, and as i respect those of others, i expect others to respect mine...

thank you.. but back to the thread... J.C. can be a to$$er... he once said that people should string cheese wire across roads to cut the heads of bikers..!! The worst thing being, that hamster and may were stood by him and both are bikers, especially hamster. And neither said a word, just giggled along.. The bbc maybe should check up on what he is spouting, but then we get into the subject of sensorship and freedom of speech... I think all we can hope is that the people who watch it see it for what it is. 'Light hearted', if somewhat miss-placed sometimes, entertainment.
